Fred Jarvis’ family: father Leo Judas, cousin Eric Forst, and uncle Leopold Judas.

Manfred Judas received this letter of thanks from Rabbi Michelson and the national Jewish Welfare Board, written October 4, 1955, for his services as chaplain. Fred used his original name Manfred Judas while in the Marine Corps. He changed his name once again to Fred Jarvis to avoid antisemitism later, as seen pasted onto this document.

Manfred Judas, Marine Corps Jewish Chaplain, kept a photograph of his family on his desk. His parents died in Auschwitz; the boys were helped to escape from Rivesaltes Concentration Camp.
